Open Houses in Torrance, CA
If I were searching through open houses in Torrance, I’d sort them by area first: the planned streets of Old Torrance, the coastal end of Hollywood Riviera, and Walteria in the south. The list below refreshes every morning with Torrance homes that have an open house coming up.

What I’d Look For If I Were Buying in Torrance
If I were buying in Torrance, I’d start with the year a house was built. The Census median is 1964, so I’d expect plenty of postwar homes, with older houses concentrated near the original 1912 townsite. Roof, windows, plumbing and electrical updates would be my first questions at any open house built around the median.
I’d also read the address on each listing closely. The western part of Torrance shares ZIP code 90277, which is a Redondo Beach postal address, so a home in Torrance can carry a Redondo Beach mailing city. With 55% of homes owner-occupied, I’d expect a mix of houses, condos and townhomes, and I’d check the property type before planning a route.
From My Notes: Torrance in September 2026
When I pulled the list on September 29, 2026, this is what the next stretch of Torrance open houses looked like:
- 5 homes had an open house scheduled, with 6 showings in all.
- The middle half were asking between $699K and $750K.
- The lowest was $565K, and the highest was $1.45M.
- Most had 3 bedrooms, and the median size was about 1,362 square feet.
- 2 of the 5 homes were in ZIP code 90503.
Five homes is a small sample, so I’d read that range as one week’s snapshot.
Torrance Neighborhoods I’d Put on My List
Old Torrance
Torrance was founded in October 1912 and laid out by the Olmsted firm as a planned town of 109 city blocks, with the industrial district placed on the east side. The first residential streets were Gramercy and Andreo avenues, and many of their houses passed 100 years old in 2012. I’d ask at each open house what is original and what has been rebuilt, since homes this old often have mixed-era work behind the walls.
Hollywood Riviera
Developer Clifford Reid founded Hollywood Riviera in the 1920s, aiming to recreate the French Riviera. It is also called Riviera Village and straddles Torrance and Redondo Beach, with some homes carrying Redondo Beach addresses. I’d check which city a listing is actually in, because that decides the city services and the school district I’d need to look up.
Walteria
Walteria sits in south Torrance, bounded roughly by Crenshaw Boulevard on the east and Pacific Coast Highway on the north, with ZIP code 90505. It was annexed to Torrance in 1928. I’d drive Pacific Coast Highway and Crenshaw at the hour I’d actually be traveling before deciding how close I want to be to either.
Madrona Marsh
The 43-acre Madrona Marsh Preserve was once an oil-well site and is one of the few natural areas left in the city. The City of Torrance operates its nature center. I’d treat it as a landmark for orienting a route rather than a reason to pick a street.
Torrance Housing at a Glance
These figures cover the whole city, so they blend the older townsite with newer areas.

Getting Around Torrance
A few facts would shape my planning:
- Interstate 405 runs inside the city limits. No other freeway runs through it.
- There is no Metro Rail station in Torrance today.
- Metro’s K Line Extension to Torrance would add about 4.5 miles of track from the Redondo Beach station, with two new stations, one near South Bay Galleria and one at the Torrance Transit Center.
- Metro’s board certified the final environmental report on January 22, 2026, and the project page gives late 2036 for completion, pending funding.
On the surface streets, Redondo Beach Boulevard marks the northern edge and Western Avenue the eastern edge, and Pacific Coast Highway crosses the south. Zamperini Field, the city’s general aviation airport, is not an airline airport, so for flights I’d plan on LAX or Long Beach.
Torrance’s average commute is 26.9 minutes, a little under the metro’s 29.5, and about 21% of workers work from home. I’d still time the drive to a specific address at rush hour.
How I’d Plan an Open House Day in Torrance
Across the 6 hosted showings, there is a small pattern:
- Tuesday and Sunday are tied as the busiest days, with 2 showings each.
- Most start at 1 p.m.
I’d confirm a weekday open house is open to the public before driving over.
Torrance stretches from the beach to inland streets, so I’d group open houses by area and leave a gap between stops. Old Torrance and Walteria are far enough apart that hopping between them would eat an hour I’d rather spend inside a house.
I’d also expect it to feel cooler near the coast in the morning and warmer inland by afternoon, so I’d carry a light layer and water and start with the coastal addresses if the list allows it.
Torrance Open House FAQ
Which parts of Torrance does this page cover?
Homes inside Torrance city limits, including Old Torrance, Hollywood Riviera, Walteria and the rest of the city. Redondo Beach, Gardena and Carson are separate cities with their own pages.
Why do some Torrance homes list a Redondo Beach address?
The western part of Torrance shares ZIP code 90277, which uses a Redondo Beach postal address. The home can still be inside Torrance city limits, so I’d confirm the city on the listing.
What is the median home value in Torrance?
The Census Bureau’s 2020 to 2024 estimate for owner-occupied homes is $1,074,700, and the median home was built in 1964.
Can I get to Torrance open houses by Metro Rail?
Not directly. No Metro Rail station is in Torrance now, and the K Line extension is not expected until late 2036, pending funding. I’d plan on driving.
How often is the Torrance list updated?
Every morning. Once a Torrance open house is scheduled it is added, and after it happens it comes off.
Do I need an agent to go to an open house in Torrance?
No. An open house is public, so you can go on your own. A few hosts keep a guest list at the entrance.
