Open Houses in Pomona, CA

If I were searching through open houses in Pomona, I’d split the city into three kinds of search: the 1890s to 1940s streets around Lincoln Park, the downtown blocks where the old pedestrian mall now holds galleries, and the hillside tracts of Phillips Ranch. The list below refreshes every morning with homes in Pomona that have an open house coming up.

What I’d Look For If I Were Buying in Pomona

If I were buying in Pomona, I’d start with the year a house was built, because the range is wide. The Census Bureau puts the median year at 1967, yet one neighborhood near downtown is a National Register district of homes from the 1890s through the 1940s, and another was master-planned in the mid-1960s. A house from one era can differ a lot from the next on lot size, roof line and how much has been updated.

I’d also compare price against the rest of the region. The Census median value here is $593,800, well under the Los Angeles metro’s $871,300, and about 54% of homes are owner-occupied, so I’d expect a real mix of houses and rentals on the same street. At each open house I’d ask about the age of the roof, the electrical panel and the plumbing, and whether the home sits inside a historic district.

From My Notes: Pomona in September 2026

When I pulled the list on September 29, 2026, this is what the next stretch of Pomona open houses looked like:

  • 8 homes had an open house scheduled, with 22 showings in all.
  • The middle half were asking between $600K and $700K.
  • The lowest was $440K, and the highest was $1.20M.
  • Most had 3 bedrooms, and the median size was about 1,634 square feet.
  • 5 of the 8 homes were in ZIP code 91766.

With prices running from $440K to $1.20M, I’d sort the list by area before comparing homes.

Pomona Neighborhoods I’d Put on My List

Historic houses in many styles in the Lincoln Park Historic District, Pomona, California

Lincoln Park Historic District

This is a 45-block, 230-acre district roughly bounded by McKinley Avenue, Towne Avenue, Pasadena Street and Garey Avenue. It holds 821 structures, mostly houses built between the 1890s and the 1940s, in styles that include Victorian, Craftsman, Colonial, Mission and Tudor. The city designated it in 1998, and it went on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. It takes its name from Lincoln Park, a neighborhood park established in 1909. If a listing fell inside it, I’d ask what is original and what has been replaced.

Mid-century pedestrian mall in downtown Pomona, California

Downtown and the Arts Colony

Pomona Mall, finished in 1962 and designed by Millard Sheets, was one of the first pedestrian malls in the country. The Los Angeles Conservancy says its west end is now the center of an arts colony with galleries, studios and restaurants, while the east end became part of Western University of Health Sciences. I’d check the property type on each listing here and think about where I’d actually walk or park.

Master-planned homes on sloped streets in Phillips Ranch, Pomona, California

Phillips Ranch

Phillips Ranch, in the southwestern part of the city, is a master-planned community that Louis Lesser began developing in 1965. It sits near the SR-60, SR-57 and SR-71 freeways and is built over hilly ground, so I’d look at slope, drainage and how steep the driveway is. Development began in 1965, so I’d expect newer construction than near downtown, and I’d still ask what has been updated.

Getting Around Pomona

The I-10, SR-57, SR-60 and SR-71 freeways all run inside the city limits, so almost any address is a short drive from one of them. Metrolink has two stations in the city, Pomona-Downtown and Pomona-North. Pomona North is also the east end of Metro’s A Line, which opened its nine-mile extension on September 19, 2025, adding stops at Glendora, San Dimas and La Verne along with Pomona.

A few dated items would shape my planning:

  • The A Line now runs 57.6 miles from Pomona to Long Beach, according to Streetsblog LA.
  • A further 2.3-mile extension from Pomona to Claremont is expected to start construction in 2027 or early 2028, with completion in late 2031, according to the Claremont Courier.
  • Metro’s I-10 ExpressLanes Extension would cover I-10 from I-605 to the San Bernardino County line and names Pomona among the communities it serves. Metro expects the environmental review to finish in 2026, with construction as early as 2029.

The average commute here is 31.8 minutes, against 29.5 for the metro area. About 16% of workers commute an hour or more, so I’d test the drive to work at rush hour before falling for a house.

How I’d Plan an Open House Day in Pomona

Across the 22 hosted showings, the timing follows a pattern:

  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday had 4 showings each, ahead of Saturday and Sunday with 3 each.
  • Most start at 10 a.m., with 16 of the 22 showings.

I’d confirm a weekday open house is open to the public before driving over.
I’d group my stops by area. Lincoln Park and downtown are close together, but Phillips Ranch is a separate drive, so I’d put it on its own morning or afternoon and leave a gap for parking on hilly streets.

Pomona also hosts large events at Fairplex, including the LA County Fair and a swap meet held seven times a year, so I’d check the calendar before driving near it. In summer I’d start early and carry water.

Yes. The Lincoln Park Historic District has 821 structures, mostly houses built between the 1890s and the 1940s, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Not every open house will be inside it, so I’d check each address.

What is the typical home value in Pomona?

The Census Bureau’s 2020 to 2024 estimate for the median value of owner-occupied homes is $593,800, compared with $871,300 for the Los Angeles metro area. Values vary by neighborhood and by house age.

Yes. Metro’s A Line ends at Pomona North, and Metrolink has stations at Pomona-North and Pomona-Downtown. Whether a given house is an easy walk to a station is something I’d check on a map.

How is the Pomona list updated?

Every morning. The list for Pomona updates each day, so new open houses show up and past ones go away.

Do I need an agent to go to an open house in Pomona?

No. Open houses are drop-in events open to everyone. You may see a sign-in sheet on the way in.
